Dr. Tu is a board certified anesthesiologist who has been in practice since 1992. Dr. Tu joined UAMG in 2006. 

Dr Tu is a native of Vietnam. He obtained the High School Baccalaureate Degree in Saigon in 1973. Subsequently, he attended the University of Saigon School of Medicine 7-year program. In 1975, after the communist takeover of South Vietnam, Dr. Tu and his family emigrated to the U.S. 

Dr. Tu's undergraduate education was at Oklahoma State University, from which he graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He then worked as an engineer in Houston, Texas. While working, he took up graduate studies at the University of Houston Central Campus, and received a Master of Business Administration in 1984. 

Dr. Tu returned to medical school and earned the Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1988. He then served an internship and residency in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas from 1988 to 1992. 

Dr. Tu practiced in Houston, Texas from 1992 until 2006 when he moved to Southern California to join UAMG. 

Dr. Tu is fluent in French and Vietnamese.
