Staff and Credentials 

Karen Gan  is a board certified anesthesiologist who has been with Upland Anesthesia at San Antonio Community Hospital since May 2003. She is also member of the Society of Cardiac Anesthesiologists and a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. In addition to being a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology , she is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery and was therefore invited to be a member and Fellow of the American Board of Hospital Physicians, a society limited to  physicians who hold three or more Diplomate Certifications.  Recently, she was recognized in Strathmore’s Who’s Who, an organization limited to individuals who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in their profession. Dr. Gan completed her medical school training at University of California, Irvine and residencies in Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Anesthesiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center,  After five years of private practice in Cardiac Surgery at San Antonio Community Hospital, she returned to Loma Linda University Medical Center for residency in Anesthesiology with special emphasis in Cardiac anesthesia and transesophageal echocardiography. Dr. Gan is currently married and has two stepchildren .  She enjoys traveling and shopping in her spare time.
